About the role
The Manager Social Policy is responsible for leading a small team of social policy professionals to research, evaluate and develop social policies, plans and strategies and support decision making by providing high-quality social policy advice (particularly regarding Child safety, accessibility, ageing and disability and homelessness) to the Social City unit, City Life Division and wider organisation in line with emerging trends and changes to legislation.
You’ll ensure that professional, well-considered and timely social policy advice is provided to internal and external stakeholders in line with community needs.

The Social Policy team sits within the City’s Social City unit. The unit delivers a wide range of vital social programs, activities, events and services to our City of Sydney’s diverse communities.
We work together to build resilient and thriving communities by providing welcoming, safe, and inclusive programs, services and spaces where all people can connect, learn and find resources and support on Gadigal Land. We are passionate about educating and empowering each other, and the community we serve.
We’re looking for someone with:
- tertiary qualifications at degree level in a relevant discipline
- experience in development and implementation of policies and programs to meet strategic objectives and meet compliance obligations in the field of human services and community development
- ability to design and undertake community engagement and consultation and interact with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
- knowledge of the Australian Access Standards.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
