About the role
The City’s Urban Analytics and Strategy Unit supports the social, cultural and economic life of the city. Within this Unit, the social strategy team oversees A City for All, our social sustainability policy and action plan.
Reporting to the Manager, Social Strategy, you will provide analysis and advice on social sustainability issues and opportunities and work collaboratively to develop strategies and plans that inform services and programs. You will contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and the delivery of projects and programs, while also supporting the implementation of A City for All by tracking progress, measuring outcomes, and ensuring alignment with the City’s broader social sustainability objectives.
We’re looking for someone with:
- a degree in Social Science, Social Research, Sociology, Public Policy, Social Planning or relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in related fields
- proven knowledge and experience in addressing a broad range of contemporary social policy issues and social impact through research and strategy development
- a strong ability to think conceptually, quickly absorb new information, and apply it to make sound decisions and solve problems
- experience in developing policy, strategies, and implementation plans, as well as in designing, delivering and evaluating programs
- a proven track record in preparing reports, submissions and high-level briefings on complex social issues and strategic approaches
- demonstrated initiative and capability to lead and manage complex projects involving multiple senior stakeholders, from concept through to delivery.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
